Nairobi, Kenya, 20 May 2026 - In Kenya, EELA marked a significant milestone with the launch of the Industry Clean-Tech Platform (ICTP), a pioneering mechanisms for advancing inclusive and sustainable industrial development through energy efficiency. The platform was unveiled during the Clean Tech Expo & Conference, held as part of Sustainable Manufacturing Week 2026. The launch brought together representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, the Swedish Embassy, a Swedish delegation coordinated by Swedish Energy Agency and Business Sweden  and key project partners including the Kenya Association of Manufacturers. The event also convened a diverse group of stakeholders from industry, government institutions, financial institutions, and development partners, creating a dynamic space for dialogue and collaboration.

Discussions focused on identifying practical pathways to boost industrial competitiveness, energy security and green economic development through energy efficiency and cleantech. Participants explored how industries can transition towards more energy-efficient and low-carbon production models, highlighting the importance of aligning policy frameworks, technological innovation, and financial instruments

At the intersection of these priorities, the ICTP embodies a public-private collaboration model designed to translate shared ambition into tangible action. The platform provides a structured interface that connects industries with tailored clean technology solutions, technical expertise, and financing opportunities, helping to overcome key barriers such as limited access to information, technical capacity, and investment. 

In doing so, the ICTP supports industries in identifying, developing, and implementing viable clean technology projects, contributing to both economic development and environmental sustainability. By improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions, companies can enhance productivity and strengthen their competitiveness in regional and global markets.

The launch of the platform also highlighted the critical role of partnerships in driving sustainable industrial transformation. Collaboration between actors such as the Swedish Embassy, Swedish Energy Agency, Business Sweden, and the Kenya Association of Manufacturers demonstrates how diverse expertise and perspectives can be brought together to support shared objectives. By combining institutional support, technical knowledge, and strong engagement with industry, this approach strengthens the platform’s relevance and impact while fostering long-term cooperation. 

Looking ahead, the ICTP will continue to expand its matchmaking function in Kenya and across the region, connecting technology providers, industries, and financiers to support the development of bankable projects.
