At the IVECF, EELA Presents the Industry Clean-Tech Platform (ICTP) to Foster Green Industrialisation in Africa
Vienna, Austria – 9 April 2026. The EELA Program has officially presented its Industry Clean‑Tech Platform (ICTP) at the International Vienna Climate and Energy Forum (IVECF), UNIDO’s flagship international conference on sustainable development and climate action.
The platform was introduced during the EELA Deep Dive session, “Accelerating Clean Industrial Technology Pathways to Strengthen Prosperity, Security and Stability in Africa”, where it was showcased as a practical and scalable model to drive green industrialisation, resource efficiency and industrial decarbonisation, fully aligned with the IVECF nexus of stability, security and prosperity.
A CORNERSTONE OF THE EELA
The Industry Clean‑Tech Platform is a digital, web‑based one‑stop shop designed to function as a market‑facilitation mechanism, bridging the gap between demand and supply for industrial clean technologies. The platform provides an enabling environment where industries from partner countries are connected with best‑available, energy‑efficient and low‑carbon technology providers, services and technical expertise. By supporting both technology providers and industrial users, the ICTP enhances market accessibility, reduces information asymmetries, and helps mitigate investment risks, thereby fostering industrial decarbonisation, competitiveness and sustainable growth.
The ICTP has been a cornerstone of the EELA Program since its inception, reflecting EELA’s commitment to transforming African industries into high‑performing, energy‑efficient and climate‑resilient actors. The official presentation in Vienna marks a key milestone in operationalising EELA’s market‑oriented approach to accelerating clean technology adoption across African industrial sectors. During the Deep Dive session, participants were introduced to the web‑based portal through a live demonstration highlighting how industrial clean‑technology ecosystems can strengthen private‑sector cooperation, unlock investment, and accelerate inclusive energy transitions.
WHO THE PLATFORM TARGETS
The ICTP is designed to serve a broad ecosystem of actors, including:
- International technology suppliers offering cutting‑edge solutions for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and cross‑cutting nexuses such as water‑energy and waste‑to‑energy, seeking access to new and fragmented markets;
- Manufacturing industries in the ECOWAS, EAC and SADC regions aiming to reduce energy costs, improve operational efficiency and decarbonise production processes;
- Energy experts and consultants specialised in industrial energy efficiency, value chains and decarbonisation, seeking to engage more effectively with industry;
- Institutions and associations, including government bodies, manufacturing associations and chambers of commerce, responsible for advancing industrial competitiveness and decarbonisation agendas.
GOVERNANCE AND OFFER
Hosted by partner manufacturing associations, including the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) and the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), the ICTP acts as a broker between industries and clean‑technology providers. The platform’s design and strategic positioning have also benefited from advisory support provided by GloFin Advisory, contributing expertise on market development, private‑sector engagement and platform‑based clean‑tech ecosystems. In addition to matchmaking functions, the ICTP raises awareness of sustainable energy opportunities, promotes innovation and green investment, and supports the development of local and regional value chains.
To ensure ownership, transparency and technical relevance, the ICTP will be supported by an Advisory Board and Technical Working Groups, bringing together regional institutions, private‑sector representatives and technical experts. This governance structure will guide the platform’s strategic orientation, quality standards and continuous improvement.
With the official launch of the ICTP, EELA reinforces its role as a catalyst for clean industrial transformation in Africa, providing a concrete, demand‑driven tool to accelerate energy‑efficiency investments and support sustainable livelihoods across the continent.
