Asteria Markus
Asteria Markus is a certified Energy Policy Officer and a PhD candidate in Sustainable Development, holding a Master’s degree in Global Energy Transition and Governance. She currently supports the management of various projects at the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE). One of the key initiatives she oversees is the Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Livelihoods in Africa (EELA) program, implemented across East, West, and Southern Africa.
She serves as the Gender Focal Point for SACREEE and Gender Manager for the SOLTRAIN+ project, where she champions the integration of gender equality in energy-related policies and programs, ensuring the inclusion of women and youth beneficiaries.
Asteria previously worked with the European Union Delegation to Namibia as an Event Coordinator and Documents Management Officer. Her responsibilities included project coordination, communication, negotiation, research, public speaking, information analysis, and facilitation. She also contributed to the formulation of the Namibian National Rural Development Policy as Secretary to the Director of Rural Development at the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development.
