Hilton Chingosho

Eng. Hilton Chingosho is an accomplished Energy and Power Systems Engineer with over a decade of experience in renewable energy consultancy, project management, and policy advisory. He has collaborated extensively with leading international organizations, including the World Bank, UNDP, AfDB, COMESA, IRENA, UNESCO, UNECA, UNICEF,
and the International Solar Alliance, delivering high-impact assignments in energy efficiency, clean energy transition strategies, and sustainable electrification projects.
Throughout his career, Hilton has played a pivotal role in shaping Zimbabwe’s energy landscape. His contributions include the drafting of the National Energy Efficiency Policy, review of the National Energy Policy, development of the E-Mobility Policy and Roadmap, rollout of rural solar water supply and clean cooking initiatives, renewable energy assessments for healthcare facilities, and the establishment of green building standards. His consultancy work demonstrates a consistent ability to align technical innovation with policy frameworks while delivering tangible benefits for communities and national development goals.
In academia, Hilton has served as a Research Leader, Renewable Energy Program Coordinator, and Lecturer in Renewable Energy, where he introduced specialized MSc courses on Mini-Grid Planning and Local Solutions for Energy Access. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, reinforcing his reputation as both a practitioner and thought leader in Africa’s energy transition.
Hilton is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®), Certified Energy Auditor (CEAI®), Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional (CLEP®), and a Registered Professional Engineer. He holds two Master’s degrees in Renewable Energy Engineering and Manufacturing Systems & Operations Management. He also serves as Battery Ambassador for Zimbabwe with the UK’s Faraday Institution, Secretary General of the Association of Energy Engineers (Zimbabwe), and Vice Chair of the Climate Action Network Zimbabwe.
