be used productively include:
- Motor-driven agro-processing, e.g., milling, hulling, and threshing
- Water pumping
- Cooling, e.g., refrigeration, walk-in cold stores, and milk chillers
- Crop drying, etc.
- Small scale commercial activities such as welding, hair dressing, cell phone charging

The main objective of the productive use of energy (PUE) webinar was to present the findings of
the study conducted by the EELA Project on “Market assessment and supply chain analysis on
leveraging energy efficient appliances and equipment for on- and off-grid productive use in the
SADC and EAC regions”. [Rodrigo – link to report, under Resources] The global outlook on PUE products was also presented using examples from the Low-Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) Programme. Finally, participants were be invited to share EAC and SADC country experiences on PUE programmes.
